Senior Opto-Mechanical Packaging Engineer

Samtec Optical Group is looking for an experienced senior opto-mechanical packaging engineer to join his development team in Sunnyvale California. The successful candidate will lead the development of novel high speed optical interconnects. We seek a hands-on engineer who has led complex high-speed opto-mechanical packaging projects from concept through design, integration, and high volume manufacturing.

Desired skill includes:

• Packaging of optical transmitters and receivers for telecom or datacom applications.
• Finite Element Modeling for thermal management and structural stress.
• Experience with optical modeling is a plus
• Product Life Cycle of opto-electronic components including specifications, design and development, operational readiness, reliability, qualification and high volume manufacturing.
• Excellent oral and written communication style.
• Ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team

The ideal candidate will have several years of technical expertise. The candidate’s education should include an MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
