QSFP "Paddle Board" Optical Engine Sub-assembly

Paddle Board sub-assemblies are used for the fabrication of active optical cables. The subassemblies are simply the "inside" of an active optical cable plug, and perform the electrical to optical signal conversion. Completion of the cables only requires the gluing of the fibers, and the addition of the plug enclosure and fiber strain relief.

Paddle board optical engines are pre-tested and optically pre-aligned. The fibers are simply laid down and UV-glued on the pre-aligned V-grooves. No precision optical manufacturing equipment nor exotic attachment process is required. We provide process, tooling and engineering training required to assist the customer in its cable production setup.

These easy to use subassemblies enable traditional copper cable assembly manufacturers to transition rapidly and with minimum investment to the production of state-of-the-art active optical cables.
